Since 1994, Women’s Prison Book Project (WPBP) has provided women, trans, and gender expansive people in prison with free reading materials covering a wide range of topics, including law and education, fiction, politics, history, and health. We are an all-volunteer, grassroots organization.

We work to break through the isolation of prison and build connections with those who are incarcerated, as well as educate those of us on the outside about the inhumane and unjust realities of the criminal legal system. We serve thousands of individuals across the country and send an average of 6K packages of books annually.
